The work of NAMRIGHTS is as diverse as it is important. Although primarily concerned with protecting human rights, NAMRIGHTS also works closely with the families of those who died during the independence struggle.

This includes working with the orphaned children of those who were killed, and continuing to lobby for reconciliation of old wounds. In September 2008, NAMRIGHTS discovered mass graves just across the Angolan border, and has since got the UN Working Group on Enforced or Involuntary Disappearances to agree to a full investigation.

NAMRIGHTS believes it is always important to document the dead, whether for ethical reasons or for the purposes of reconciliation.
